This song is about being so in love with someone that you'll do anything to be with them. In the video the band tries to hypnotize the girls of the world and make them more eager to have sex.

Franz Ferdinand usually close their sets with "This Fire." One time, though, during a concert in Romania, they decided to start the gig with the track. "The joke was, at the end of the song, we went 'Thank you very much, good night!'" Kapranos remembered to ABC Radio. "It was the first time we ever played in Romania, so no one knew the joke, it was just to entertain ourselves," added bassist Bob Hardy. "We found it very funny," Kapranos laughed.
