Interesting facts and trivia about Darkness Visible. By Songfacts®.

During the recording of Delta, Mumford & Sons held a series of Friday late-night sessions where they hang out with friends and played music. One of the estimated 100 people who passed through was Americana artist Gill Landry, who we hear on this song reading from 17th-century poet John Milton's Biblical epic Paradise Lost.

Paradise Lost is an epic poem first published in 1667, which concerns the Biblical story of man's fall in the Garden of Eden. The work is considered to be the first great poem written in blank verse. In the preface John Milton referred to, "the troublesome and modern bondage of rhyming."
