"Red Room" is an introspective look into Offset's upbringing in Gwinnett County, a mostly suburban area near Atlanta. The Migos member raps about his personal pain growing up with no father, his early gang affiliation and his brother's arrest.
The Migos rapper also reflects on his come-up and reminisces on his near-fatal car accident in May 2018. I like to throw up when I think about the crash Not playin', when I hit the tree I smell the gas While driving his green Dodge Challenger in Atlanta, Offset had to swerve to avoid a crackhead in the middle of the road. He hit a tree and was hospitalized, but was fortunate not to be killed.
The song was produced by Metro Boomin. In 2017 the beatmaker recorded Though Without Warning, collaborative studio album between 21 Savage, Offset and him, which included the hit singles "Ghostface Killers" and "Ric Flair Drip."
