Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Butterflies (feat. Not3s). By Songfacts®.

AJ Tracey grew up in the Ladbroke Grove area of West London in a family that originated from Trinidad. This breezy, summery song features melodic production with a dancehall influence courtesy of long-time AJ collaborator. Tracey told The Fader that he decided to record a song aimed at a beach party playlist as he feels though Caribbean music in the UK used to be popular, now youngsters are listening top other sounds. He added: "I'm from Trinidad. I wanna be at least one of the people who's like, 'I love the Caribbean, this is a little bit of our culture.' Africa's really well represented now, so hold tight with my African friends but my culture isn't represented. It's all cool listening to the afrobeats and afroswing, whatever you want to call it, but where is the dancehall, the soca, you know what I'm saying? There's none of this [in U.K. music]. I just wanted to showcase it a bit."

Tracey tapped Nigerian-British singer-rapper Not3s to supply an additional verse on the track.

Tracey told Billboard his purpose with this song was just "to bring some good vibes to people." He added: "The world's in a very crazy place right now. London is a very crazy dark place, [and] I just wanted people to know that it's not all about violence and drilling. Sometimes, you can be happy and celebrate."
