The opening track of FKA Twigs' LP1 album starts with Twigs quoting from the English 16th century poet Sir Thomas Wyatt's "I Find No Peace." She told Pitchfork that the "I love another, and thus I hate myself" line is the only constant throughout the album. "It's called LP1, but, for me, that quote is the subtitle," Twigs explained, "you could apply that line to anything in my life for the past two years." The "I love another, and thus I hate myself" line is also inscribed into the vinyl of LP1.
Speaking to Complex magazine about the song in 2015, Twigs said: "Looking back on when I did LP1, I had a really deep, weird self-loathing. I was weirdly self-harming through the people who I was forcing on myself." She added: "The two years previous to me doing LP1, I didn't have a lot of respect for my heart."
