This atmospheric number is the opening track from Goodbye Lullaby, the fourth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne. "It's the first song that I recorded for this record," she told Billboard magazine. "A lot of people like it. It's kind of like a lullaby."
Lavigne originally composed the ethereal, piano-driven chorus in a Malaysian hotel during her tour. It was written in 2009 for some TV adverts to promote the singer's "Black Star" fragrance, but Lavigne subsequently decided to turn it into a full recording. Lavigne's Black Star was created under license of Procter & Gamble Prestige, and is composed of pink hibiscus, black plum and dark chocolate. It smells much better than her Sk8er Boi scent, which reeks of Axe body spray and road grime.
