This dreamlike, piano-heavy ballad was released on March 2, 2017, to coincide with frontman Chris Martin's birthday. It was made available as birthday present to his band's fans.
The song was written by all four members of Coldplay, and produced by the band's long term collaborators Rik Simpson and Bill Rahko. The pair worked on previous Coldplay hits like "Viva La Vida" and "Adventure of a Lifetime."
Now I'm hyp, hypnotized Yeah I trip, when I look in your eyes Oh I'm hyp, hypnotized Yeah I lift and I'm mesmerized Hypnosis is a trance-like state of human consciousness involving focused attention, reduced peripheral awareness and a heightened suggestibility. It was Austrian physician Franz Mesmer (1734 –1815) who first took up the idea that such a power existed, calling it "animal magnetism." Mesmer used it as a medical treatment to heal certain nervous ailments. However, in 1785 a royal commission concluded that Mesmer's "cures" were solely due to his patient's imaginations. The Scottish doctor James Braid became convinced of the veracity of the phenomena after witnessing a demonstration of mesmerism in 1841. He coined the term hypnosis, from the Greek "hypnos" meaning sleep. The new name was more acceptable than mesmerism, with its implications of fraud, and it soon replaced the older term.
