This was written in 1982 by brothers (and group members) Jonathan, David, and Wayne Lewis. The brothers brought this to a 1982 album session, but it didn't get included because the producer didn't think it would fit in with their other songs. It ended up being their biggest hit.
After Atlantic Starr changed lead vocalists (From Sharon Bryant to Barbara Weathers), "Always" was taken off the shelf to be sung as a duet between Weathers and David Lewis.
