Girl In Red wrote "We Fell in Love in October" in 2015, when she was in her mid-teens. It's the first song she wrote about her first lesbian romance. "I had broken up with my boyfriend and I'd been in this relationship with this girl and it's just me declaring my love for this girl," Ulven explained to Fader.

Girl In Red repeatedly screams "my girl" on the chorus. She explained that this was her owning the relationship as she "struggled a long time accepting it" and there was a lot of drama between the two.
