Mimi Webb - real name Amelia Webb - is a singer-songwriter from Canterbury, Kent. A graduate of the renowned Brighton Institute of Modern Music (fellow alumni Tom Odell and James Bay), her breakthrough came in 2020 when TikTok superstar Charli D’Amelio used Webb's anthem "Before I Go" in two of her videos, generating over 85 million views. This song became her first single to reach the UK chart when it debuted at #17 on the listing dated April 4, 2021.
Webb wrote the song based on a personal experience about getting over a toxic relationship. She explained in a video it came from a raw time in her life. "For a long long time I was back and forth can against myself thinking I was the one to blame for the problems in my relationship," Webb said. "I had done everything wrong until one day I did just wake up and it clicked in that you know I don't need that and I'm actually the one that hasn't done anything wrong and I need to start living my life for me instead of that other person."
Mimi Webb penned the tune alongside its Swiss producer, Fridolin "Freedo" Walcher (Zara Larsson's "Lush Life"), and Sam Merrifield (JC Stewart's "Like I Did").
