This song about love lost is from 2008 X-Factor finalist Diana Vickers' debut album, Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree. Vickers penned the song with English pop songwriter Chris Braide, whose other songwriting credits include Clay Aiken's "This Is The Night," Will Young's "Anything is Possible" and S Club 7's "Have You Ever."
The album title comes from a line in this song, which goes "You're a tainted cherry tree, there's a mark upon your skin." Vickers explained to Spinner UK: "It's about the idea of forbidden fruit, you know, something that you want and is really tempting, but you know it's bad for you. Kind of like a beautiful boy."
This is one of a number of tracks on the album that deal with heartbreak. Vickers was only 18 when she contributed to the lyrics and Spinner UK asked her if she's been through this sort of misery already. "No, it's not personal, not really," Vickers replied, laughing. "I just think I'm a very sort of... I read a lot of books, and I'm very passionate. I'm all about the love, basically. It's not necessarily because I've been heartbroken. I'm just young and imaginative."
