Oh Wonder wrote this passionate anthem for themselves to acknowledge their perseverance and determination to make it as musicians. The duo explained to Billboard: "It's all we both ever wanted, and over the last 15 years we have had many people tell us that our dreams were invalid or too impossible. Hopefully it inspires people to ignore the haters and find the strength to pursue their own dreams."
Oh Wonder released this as their first single from No One Else Can Wear Your Crown. Asked by The Sun why they chose to lead the record with this song, Josephine Vander Gucht explained: "It's a crazy anthem of self-defiance that was a slight departure from our previous releases. It felt like an appropriate statement to mark our return and launch this album, and it also sums up this records metaphor of wearing your crown and not letting anyone tell you what to do."
