Stand-up comic Lil Duval (birth name: Roland Powell) was a regular featured performer on three seasons of BET's ComicView starting in 2004 before becoming a series regular on MTV2's Guy Code and Hip Hop Squares. He has also dabbled in music, releasing his first rap album Saks Fifth in 2011. That LP featured Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane and Jeezy, among other leading lights in the hip-hop world. Duval has also appeared in several music videos, including T.I's clip for "Whatever You Like."
This song features Snoop Dogg and Miami rapper Ball Greezy. Released on July 3, 2018, it gave Lil Duval his first Hot 100 entry. It was also Ball Greezy's debut Hot 100 hit, and earned Snoop Dogg his first visit to the tally for three years. His previous landing on the listing was a one-week stopover as a featured turn (with Bilal and Anna Wise) on Kendrick Lamar's "Institutionalized," in April 2015.
Duval, Snoop and Greezy rap about living a happy, fulfilled life and not worrying what anybody has to say I'm living my best life I ain't goin' back and forth with you ni--as Duval explained the song came from him being his real self and living his "best life as far as just being happy and trying to put that energy out there for everybody else." The rapper added that he wanted to put out something upbeat in contrast to much of the music that's out at the moment, which is "drug-inspired, depressing and sad."
