Liberate

Disturbed's second studio album, Believe, explores the theme of belief and encourages listeners to reevaluate their personal convictions, especially narrow-minded religious beliefs that promote strife instead of unity. The third single finds lead singer David Draiman "calling on the world to liberate their minds and cease conflict based on blind hatred and differences of belief. Calling for the day that has been foretold in every major religion. The notion of the end of days, the coming of the so-called messiah."

The lyrics quote a passage from chapter two of the bible's Book of Isaiah in the Old Testament when the eponymous prophet foretells a time of peace in the last days when the messiah returns: Out of Zion shall come forth a law And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem Nation shall not raise sword against nation And they shall not learn war anymore For the mouth of the Lord hath spoken Draiman wonders why believers are waiting for their "modern messiah" to take away all of the hatred that lives inside them instead of choosing peace now. The idea especially weighed on his mind as America went to war following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Like their debut album, The Sickness, this album was produced and engineered by Johnny K, who owns the Groovemaster Recording Studios in Chicago, where the band formed.
