This song originated with David Crowder having a song idea for the phrase "good God almighty." Written in the thick of the COVID lockdown, he wanted the message to be clear that no matter what is happening and what the future holds, God is still God. "To sing this declaration of truth during the pandemic and beyond is what we need," he added. "That's what I needed. I need to be singing His declaration of truth in these difficult moments."
The bridge interpolates the anonymously-penned gospel hymn "Praise, Him, Praise Him," which was popularized by Carman.
Jeff Sojka and Ben Glover produced the Southern rock-leaning tune incorporating a gospel choir. "This song is just some good old fashioned group singing, said Crowder. "And what I love about that is it is a group of people in harmony. That's what we need and what I'm praying for, some harmony and togetherness."
