This slow tempo love number features Meek Mill. The MMG rapper originally recorded his rhymes for singer K. Michelle's Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart album. However, despite titling the record after the track, she didn't use it, so he passed his song onto Minaj instead.
Meek Mill was serving a jail sentence for violating his probation during the recording of The Pinkprint, so he was unable to contribute any fresh rhymes. Minaj addressed their collaboration during an interview with Power 106's 'Big Boy's Neighborhood' in Los Angeles. "He had his people send me both of those songs for The Pinkprint… because he thought he was going to be home in time [from jail] to be on 'Favorite,'" she said. "When he realized he wasn't, his people reached out and said, 'You know Meek wants to give you a couple songs to choose from. He sent me five songs and I chose 'Buy a Heart' and 'Big Daddy.'"
Chicago producer Arch tha Boss (Driicky Graham's "Snapbacks & Tattoos," Nipsey Hussle's "10 Toes") supplied the beat. His instrumental samples Henry Krinkle's "Stay" and Alicia Keys' "Un-thinkable (I'm Ready)."
