The entirety of the lyrics are the phrase "Around the world" repeated 144 times.
Michel Gondry directed the video. He has quite an imagination, and for this song, he had different characters representing different sounds in the song all moving around a circle. Among the characters are four disco girls moving up and down a set of stairs, symbolizing the ascending/descending bass guitar. Gondry recalled to NME: "Chic always makes me dance. When I did the video for 'Around The World' I built the stairs for the dancers because every time I hear the bassline from 'Good Times' I picture a little guy going up and down the stairs."
Daft Punk are the French duo of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. They recorded a track with the English band Stereolab called "Cindy So Loud," which was described as "Daft Punk" (meaning they didn't like it) by the British music magazine Melody Maker. This provided the name for the band. Their first album, which includes this track, was called "Homework" because they recorded it in Bangalter's home studio.
