Banks is the stage name of the Los Angeles singer-songwriter Jillian Banks. She turned to music as a teenager to combat depression. Banks' rise started with the release of two EPs in 2013 and a support slot on The Weeknd's tour.
This song finds Banks playing romantic mind games with her guy as she pleads with him not to hurt her brain. "When I'm writing, it's the weirdest thing, it's not even a conscious process," she told Digital Spy. "I'm not even thinking when I write and then all of a sudden I'll have a song that makes me feel so much better than I did before."
