Marshmello is an electronic dance music producer and DJ who wears a full-head-covering marshmallow helmet inspired by other masked DJs like Daft Punk and Deadmau5. His real identity remains a mystery, although it has been suggested he is American DJ Chris Comstock. Marshmello first gained international recognition with his remixes of Zedd's "Beautiful Now," and Jack Ü's "Where Are U Now."
This EDM banger was first dropped by the Canadian-based independent electronic dance music record label Monstercat in May 2016, just days before Marshmello performed at EDC New York. Upon its release as a digital download on June 17, 2016, the song charted on the Canadian and US Hot 100s, becoming the first Marshmello song to reach either tally.
Lyrically, the song is about missing home and the person you love. I'm so alone Nothing feels like home I'm so alone Trying to find my way back home to you Marshmello explained the song's meaning on Facebook: "Truth is, I had just moved away from my friends and family and I started to feel very home sick and lonely like I didn't belong in my new settings. Everything was just happening so fast and I couldn't really grasp where I was or who I was but all I knew was that I felt Alone."
