Don't Pray For Me

This song opens Asking Alexandria's third album, From Death to Destiny. It was specifically written by the band to be a concert opener. Guitarist Ben Bruce explained to Artist Direct: "We wrote this album as a live record. We didn't want to be one of those bands kids go see live and say, 'Oh, they didn't pull it off. It's not as good live as it is on the record.' We sat down and wrote a live record. We wanted it to be even bigger live if possible. In our minds, 'Don't Pray For Me' is the perfect way to open an album and therefore a show."

The song includes some audio taken from a video filmed in Seattle during a live performance when an intoxicated Danny Worsnop was unable to finish the set and Bruce asked the audience to vote whether the singer should go to rehab. Bruce explained to Artist Direct: "'Don't Pray For Me' is written specifically about one of the lowest points in our career—to the extent of putting live audio in the track of the infamous Seattle show that almost broke up our band."

Asking Alexandria recorded From Death To Destiny with Joey Sturgis, who also produced the group's first two albums. Most of the set was recorded at his studio in Indiana, but the band also trekked to Los Angeles to record vocals and strings and choir parts at NRG Studios. "On the last one a lot of that extra stuff was all fake; we did it on computer," Bruce told Billboard magazine. "This time we wanted to be more organic, so we got a live orchestra conducted by the brilliant Stevie Black (Alice in Chains, Avenged Sevenfold) and did all the strings. Then we got a live church gospel choir to come into the studio for a few days to sing over a few tracks. It really sounds special."
