This song is about Snow Patrol lead singer Gary Lightbody's ex-girlfriend. Lightbody in an interview with the April 2007 Q Magazine said the song was an invitation for her to give him another chance. He also said that the songs on Final Straw and Eyes Open are mostly about the same ex-girlfriend, "although there's a little composite of all the messes I've made. I've dated 5 women in my whole life and there are bits of those experiences in there."
