This somber song finds Justin singing of heartbreak caused by living life in the public eye. "Never do I ever do I want this thing to make me. 'Cause the fame and the money, and the girls will drive you crazy," he croons. However once Justin puts on his yellow raincoat he's kept dry and is protected from his haters.
Justin collaborated with LA musician and songwriter Tom Strahle on the song after previously working with him on "Turn to You (Mother's Day Dedication)."
The song is one of three new tracks on Justin's Believe Acoustic album, the remaining tunes being re-recordings of tunes from his third studio set. His manager Scooter Braun told Billboard magazine that they recorded the record in part because "this is how fans first knew Justin." He added: "Even with 'Baby,' we put an acoustic version online weeks before the studio version."
