The bouncy track, featuring New Orleans brass, is a change of pace compared to Normani's other more R&B-oriented releases. "It was the first opportunity that I had to have fun," she told Rolling Stone. "I think that people have been waiting for me to have fun and I've had so many records like 'Waves' and 'Love Lies,' which are a little bit more R&B smooth sailing."
Normani opened for Ariana Grande during her Sweetener US tour. Here, Grande returns the favor by co-writing this track with the former Fifth Harmony singer. The other writers are Ilya Salmanzadeh (Jennifer Lopez), Max Martin (The Weeknd) and Savan Kotecha (Usher). The song was produced by Salmanzadeh.
