Florence Welch opens the High As Hope album with "June," wherein she reflects on the loneliness of fame and her coping mechanisms. The show was ending and I had started to crack Woke up in Chicago and the sky turned black Said Florence Welch to Q magazine: "I started making High As Hope without telling anyone, just me and my engineer, at that small studio, 123 studios in Peckham. I would go in there and just mess around on the piano. And the first song that I wrote was June, which was about that last June in America that I was touring." She added that the album was about looking at love in a different way: "I did think of love as a sort of emptiness. That I had learned that love was a feeling of abandonment."
