Kesha's mother is former punk rock singer Pebe Sebert, who later became a country songwriter and penned Dolly Parton's 1980 chart-topper "Old Flames (Can't Hold a Candle to You))." She encouraged her daughter to sing and taught her how to write songs. In 2005 Pebe and Kesha were featured in an episode of the reality show The Simple Life as the host family to Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie in Nashville. The link with Hilton later provided material for this tale of debauchery. Kesha said of Hilton to The Tennessean: "There is no relationship, but I did vomit in her closet, only because I thought it was her bathroom. It was a pretty big closet."
Kesha co-wrote this with songwriter/producer Benny Blanco (Katy Perry, 3OH!3). The twosome also collaborated on Kesha's breakthrough hit "TiK ToK."
Kesha told Rolling Stone: "I hate champagne, so there's a song called 'Party at a Rich Dude's House' where I went and peed in the champagne bottles and thought it was hilarious. Just kind of being an a--hole, really, is what that song's about."
