This is the third single from Country music artist Craig Morgan's fifth studio album, That's Why. Morgan co-wrote it with former Lyric Street Records artist Kevin Denney, Mike Rogers and Tom Botkin.
This song about a summertime party round a bonfire wasn't even written when Morgan released That's Why in October 2008. After the song was penned and he saw the reaction from his fans, Morgan went back to the record company and asked if they could add it to the CD. The label agreed, including this song and "This Ain't Nothin'' on the May 21, 2009 reissue. "I told them these songs were the kind of things that fans wanted to hear from me, and I was very fortunate that everybody at the label agreed that we would put these on there and reissue the record," Morgan told AOL's The Boot, adding, "I'm most grateful to the fans because they allow me to do what I do, and 'Bonfire' is the kind of song I love to do. It's the kind of music that I am. I write and sing about the little things, the simple things, the everyday stuff. That's what this song is about - it's everyday stuff that people do."
