Trivia

Interesting facts about BackOutsideBoyz. By Songfacts.

"BackOutsideBoyz" is the first of four Drake solo songs on Her Loss, his collaborative album with 21 Savage. The OVO leader also flies solo on "Middle Of The Ocean," "Jumbotron S--t Poppin," and "I Guess It's F--k Me."

Throughout the track, Drake brags about his wealth and deliberates on his romantic decisions. His most headlining bars are two seeming disses of other rappers. Tried to bring the drama to me, he ain't know how we cha-cha slide When Drake first dropped his 2015 single "Hotline Bling," D.R.A.M called out the Toronto MC for copying elements of his song "Cha Cha." The then relatively unknown Virginia singer (he had a hit the following year with "Broccoli") felt aggrieved, and there's since been tension between the two artists. Many fans connected the dots of this lyric to D.R.A.M. She a ten tryna rap, it's good on mute, yeah It's financial, girl, I got the loot Drake's reference to being unimpressed by a beautiful girl trying to rap is widely perceived to be aimed at Ice Spice. After the Bronx rapper went viral on social media with her single "Munch (Feelin' U)," Drake co-signed her. He played the song on OVO Sound Radio and jetted Ice Spice to Toronto to meet him. Weeks later, Drake unfollowed her on Instagram. She reacted by saying: "It's okay. It's all love."

Drake kicks off the song with the chorus; the title comes from its opening line: BackOutsideBoyz, totin' a seventy on the strip, I'm ready to die The Toronto MC is outlining his gangsta credentials with a play on the boy band Backstreet Boys' name.
