Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Beautiful Thing. By Songfacts®.

The second single released by The Stone Roses' following their 2011 reunion is a sprawling, psychedelic song that runs for just over seven minutes. It is not the longest track in the Stone Roses catalogue, as "I Am The Resurrection" runs for 8 minutes and 12 seconds, whilst the 12" version of "Fools Gold" stretches to 9 minutes 53 seconds.

The song starts with one of vocalist Ian Brown's frequent lyrical themes: a messiah complex. There was no crucifixion Just lies to steal your mind Brown once declared "I am the Resurrection" and the Roses cheekily titled their second album The Second Coming. Many of Brown's lyrics also contain biblical references. For instance, the line "You feel my flow and you flood my brain" in "One Love" has its origin in John's Gospel chapter 7 verses 37-38.
