Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Hair (feat. Sean Paul). By Songfacts®.

This tell-off anthem takes aim at an ex-boyfriend, who the girls want to get out of their hair. While it was written way before band member Perrie Edwards' split from Zayn Malik, the timing of its release as a promotional single coincided with the news that the couple had called off their engagement. As a result, many believed the song was putting the ex-One Direction singer in his place.

This was co-written by English singer-songwriter Anita "Cocknbullkid" Blay, who also co-penned another girl group, Neon Jungle's 2013 single, "Trouble."

The phrase to 'get in (or out of) someone's hair' means to annoy them. It was adapted by Rodgers and Hammerstein for their South Pacific song "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair", which is sung by the character Nellie Forbush. Confused and annoyed by her feelings for a man (Emile De Becque) she sings of her intention to spurn him. The tune was later adapted in the 1970s for a commercial jingle for Clairol hair coloring.
