As a teenager, Lizzo struggled with body issues, but now she's older and wiser the singer wants to encourage her fans to celebrate the way they look. This empowerment anthem finds the singer advocating body positivity and self-love. Mirror, mirror on the wall Don't say it, 'cause I know I'm cute Lizzo explained her confident attitude regarding her body to Apple Music. "At the end of the day, I want my music to make people feel good, I want it to help people love themselves. This song is about looking in the mirror, loving what you see, and letting everyone know."
This retro-inspired funk-pop song was the second-to-last track Lizzo wrote for her Cuz I Love You album, right before "Soulmate." She penned the tune with: Theron Thomas, who is one half of the Rock City songwriting duo. Their resumé features hit songs recorded by the likes of Miley Cyrus ("We Can't Stop") and Rihanna ("Pour It Up"). Ricky Reed who previously co-wrote Lizzo's "Truth Hurts" single. He also handled the song's production.
