This song was somewhat of a departure from Lobo's previous sound, resulting from changing tastes in music at the time. It's about a man who meets the woman of his dreams, only now he's married and thus unavailable, so he can only muse about what might have been.
"Where Were You When I Was Falling In Love" was Lobo's last major hit on the US Pop charts, although he subsequently enjoyed some success in country music and remained popular overseas.
This was written by Jeff Silbar ("The Wind Beneath My Wings"), Sam Lorber ("Dare Me"), and Steve Jobe ("If Love Had A Face"). Silbar and Lorber also wrote several other tunes together, including Lobo's "Heart To Heart (Person To Person)" and the country hits "Sleep Tight Good Night Man" by Bobby Bare and "She's Been Keeping Me Up Nights" by Bobby Lewis.
