Against Me! lead singer Laura Jane Grace wrote this song about her grandparents. Evelyn was Laura's grandmother and James was her grandfather. James was an alcoholic but was still always good to Evelyn. Her grandmother was always there for Laura growing up and lived with her on and off, so Laura cares for her deeply. James died from a heart attack, and Evelyn never remarried.
