This ecstatic tune is the opening track and first single from Modern Love, the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson. It was first released as a free download to his fan mailing list in March 2011.

Modern Love debuted on #17 on the Billboard 200 for the week of July 9, 2011, making it Nathanson's most successful album to date.

During an interview with Erica Boniface of Colorado radio station Alice 105.9, Nathanson was asked if the girl he's singing about in this song knows it is about her? He replied: "Uh, I don't know. I used to think that songs were letters directly to people and it used to be really important that they know. But these days it's not as important. It feels a little bit more like the songs are for me. So I don't know if she knows!"
