This is one of the graver moments on Future Islands' Singles album. "It's a song about contemplating suicide," vocalist Samuel T Herring explained to NME. "And being taken away from that idea by someone who shares that you're a brighter person than that, you're stronger... That's really helped some people. It means the most to me, because it's a song about me."
The song recreates a moment in 2011 when Herring confided to his then-girlfriend that he'd contemplated suicide. He told NME: "All the songs are personal but that one came from the darkest place. Every time I sing it, I feel like I save myself a little way."
