Kate Pierson wrote a number of tracks for her debut solo album Guitars and Microphones with Sia, who also executive produced the record. The B-52 singer described this cut to Billboard magazine as "a Sleater-Kinney, Ting-Tings riot grrrl neo-punk song." She added, "It came about when I started co-writing with Sia at Dallas Austin's studio in LA. He started playing the bass line on keyboard and we started jamming."
