For much of his music career, James Blunt has been a single guy with a band, traveling the world. Though he was having a lot of fun, he felt there was something missing. The singer found what he was looking for when he married lawyer Sofia Wellesley on September 6, 2014. This upbeat and heartwarming song is a love note to his wife. As I look out at the morning sun There's no escape from the things I've done And out of everything I've lost, now I know that I just needed you And darling, that's the truth Blunt told Apple Music that it's been a long and lonely journey, which eventually brought him to Sofia. "And I'm in the right place now," he added. "I'm very happy with that, and that's the truth."
Blunt wrote the song with: Steve Robson, who also produced his 2010 Some Kind of Trouble album. Robson's other credits include Take That's Ivor Novello Award-winning song "Shine," Rascal Flatts' hit US tune "What Hurts The Most," and several of Olly Murs' singles, including his Transatlantic hit "Troublemaker." Cleo Tighe, who is a member of the songwriting and production collective The Six. She has also-penned hits with Paloma Faith ("Crybaby") and Clean Bandit ("Real Love").
Directed by Vaughan Arnell (George Michael, One Direction), the video sees Blunt strapped up with cameras running through London. The clip highlights the idea that we're all traveling in certain directions, not always certain of our destination, and sometimes, even if we are, some might never get there.
