Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Such Great Heights (John Tejada Remix) - Remastered. By Songfacts®.

With the lyrics, "Everything looks perfect from far away," this song examines all that which seems perfect, but up close is not. The Earth from far away looks like a perfect sphere, but up close there are mountains, valleys, blemishes. A perfectly drawn circle using a compass looks jagged under a microscope.

This song accentuates how in the most "perfect" of relationships there are many imperfections that both parties must learn to accept and overlook. If you are the one that is one-sided, "come down now," back to earth, back to reality, and recognize your own faults as well.

This was the first single from The Postal Service. The B-side was a cover version by Iron & Wine, who is the singer/songwriter Samuel Beam. The Iron & Wine version got a great deal of exposure, appearing in movie Garden State and commercials for M&M's and Ask.com. The Postal Service version appeared in the TV shows Grey's Anatomy and Veronica Mars, and was used in commercials for Target and Kaiser Permanente. It was also used in commercials for the package delivery company UPS, ironic as they are a competitor to the United States Postal Service.
