This humorous ditty from Elton's mega double album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was written by the then-already-long-established team of Elton John and Bernie Taupin. If Taupin had anyone in particular in mind when he came up with these lyrics, he didn't name her, possibly because of the law of defamation. And it may be that he was mindful of the censor when he penned the opening couplet, rhyming "haven't had much luck" with "run down by a truck."
