This sensual track is Kalis Uchis' ode to chilling out with her beau. She effortlessly flips between English and Spanish, crooning, "I just wanna ride, get high in the moonlight" when the chorus hits.
Uchis co-wrote "Moonlight" with the song's producers Benny Blanco (Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl," Kesha's "TiK ToK," Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself," Ed Sheeran's "Perfect"), and his protégé Cashmere Cat (The Weeknd's "Die For You," Benny Blanco's "Eastside," Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's "Senorita," and The Kid Laroi's "Stay"). Leon Michels (of El Michels Affair) supplied additional production.
Kali Uchis released "Moonlight" as the second single from her third studio album, Red Moon in Venus. It marked Uchis' third solo single to appear on the Hot 100, following "Telepatía" (2021), which peaked at #25, and "I Wish You Roses" (2023), which reached #81.
