This is the second single released from London-based folk quartet Mumford & Sons' debut album, Sigh No More. The song was produced by Markus Dravs who has also worked with Arcade Fire, Bjork and Peter Gabriel.
The "Winter" in this song is a metaphor for loneliness as the narrator finds himself with a girl as he's lonely. He wants to love her, but is unsure if he is with the girl as he has feelings for them, or because of a fear of being alone.
