Lost

Linkin Park recorded "Lost" around 2003 during sessions of their second album, Meteora. The song didn't make the final tracklist but was present in The Making Of Meteora, a DVD released together with the album. The clip of lead singer Chester Bennington singing "thoughts that take away my pride, trapped in places deep inside" over an instrumental became a fan favorite, and the song continued to make appearances over time. While scavenging through hard drives for the 20th anniversary of Meteora, the group rediscovered the full song with Bennington's powerful vocals. In 2023, Linkin Park finally decided to release "Lost" officially, to the delight of fans worldwide. "Lost" came out on February 10, 2023 as the lead single from the 20th anniversary version of Meteora.

"Lost" is a song about the pain of life and the difficulty of personal growth. I'm lost in these memories Living behind my own illusion Lost all my dignity Living inside my own confusion Bennington sings of being lost in his own memories, feeling trapped in a false reality and living in confusion. He feels like he has lost his dignity and pride. I try to keep this pain inside But I will never be alright Bennington wishes he could break free from his pain but finds it an impossible goal to achieve.

Chester Bennington struggled with depression throughout his life, and on July 20th, 2017, he died by suicide at 41, leaving a shockwave through the music community. With its haunting lyrics and powerful vocals, "Lost" serves as a moving tribute to the late singer and his enduring legacy.
