Olivia Rodrigo closes her Sour album with a message of love and support to a couple of people: a victim of abuse at home and a classmate ostracized by her parents. Both have been affected emotionally by their experiences, and Rodrigo expresses her solidarity with these down-on-their-luck individuals.
On the face of it these are two personal stories where Rodrigo is addressing people she once knew but has since lost touch with. However, the singer revealed they have come from her imagination and are secondhand stories she has collected from friends.
This is one of only two tracks on Sour, the other being "Jealousy, Jealousy," that is not based on a romantic premise. Instead, "Hope Ur Ok" is a message of support and sympathy to people who are less emotionally fortunate than herself.
