"Fix'n To Break" continues Bailey Zimmerman's streak of anthems about relationships on their last legs. Others include "Rock And A Hard Place" and "Never Leave."
In the first verse, Zimmerman uses DIY and building imagery to illustrate his talent for persevering through difficult situations. I'm pretty good with a hammer and a nail I've been known to do it myself There ain't much in this house that I can't fix We've been beat, but it ain't broke yet However, the relationship is pushing him to his limit. Zimmerman is determined to salvage the crumbling romance, but he needs his lover's help. Built this love up, stone by stone. We both know we can't do it alone. We can build this house back up or we can break it down The song revolves around the central question Zimmerman poses to his partner, Can their love survive the challenge? Tell me what it is you're thinkin', shoot me straight Yeah, I know that I might lose you, but either way Are we fix'n to break?"
Bailey Zimmerman co-wrote "Fix'n to Break" with his producer, Austin Shawn, along with Chandler Walters, Gavin Lucas and Sergio Sanchez. Shawn's production incorporates some additional atmospheric elements, making it sonically different from Zimmerman's previous material.
