Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Solid Gold. By Songfacts®.

This is a track from The Wave, an album that finds Tom Chaplin reflecting on how his incessant use of cocaine was sabotaging his marriage. He wrote this song as a love letter to his wife, Nat. "I wanted to articulate how my view of our relationship had changed once I got myself clean," Chaplin explained. "It's one of the most poignant moments on the record."

Chaplin re-recorded the track as a duet with the singer JONES. He explained: "When I wrote the middle section of the song, I always had it in mind that it should feel like a duet. After discovering JONES through a friend, I decided to make it a full duet. Having never done this kind of thing before, I was slightly dubious as to how it would work. However once we got into the studio, it just added a whole new layer to the song."
