This song is about the April 20, 1999 Columbine shootings in America through the eyes of the killers. they're saying that even though they get picked on by the jocks they will have the last laugh because they end up killing everyone. In the line, "So you can try to tear me down, beat me to the ground, I will see you screaming," they are saying how they just snapped and killed everyone. Lead singer Jon Davis said, "It's a song about people who are constantly ridiculed and the damage it can cause."
The music video was directed by Albert and Allen Hughes, The Hughes Brothers. Future Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul plays a high school student who gets relentlessly bullied at school before he finally snaps, ruining the prom (at least in his mind) Carrie-style.
"Thoughtless" was released as a single from Korn's fifth album, Untouchables. They never played it live but the song got some airplay and the video got a lot of attention after Aaron Paul turned famous. Korn released their third album, Follow The Leader, in 1998, and their fourth, Issues, in 1999. Both went to #1, but they needed a break and didn't get Untouchables out until 2002. By this time, many of their fans had moved on and the nu metal craze had long passed. The most enduring song from the album is "Here To Stay," the first single.
