Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Leaps. By Songfacts®.

"This song," says Steve Adams, "is just a rude song. And quite joyfully so. I thought of it as following a long tradition of '40s songs, but having been in sort of pop music format." The video, however, has a different story behind it. In it, an old man opens his cupboard to find tiny puppet replicas of the Broken Family Band performing the song. "It was entirely someone else's idea," explains Steve, "and we really enjoyed it."
It features each band member's torso and face. "We controlled our legs," he says. "It's really weird to explain, but we had these little wooden legs, and tiny trousers, and we controlled them with our hands behind them. And other men with very long arms did our arms. It was a very long shoot under hot lights, with men covering each from behind," he laughs. "It made for an interesting day. We all got on much better afterward."
