One of the more personal cuts on The Dreamer/The Believer, this nostalgic track was apparently was one of the last completed for the album. The song finds Common touching on his very public relationships, which have included tennis player Serena Williams, neo-soul singer Erykah Badu and actress Taraji P. Henson. ("How could someone you to talk to each and everyday, that you about to marry be on their merry way?/ I'm singin' through the pain like I was Mary J.").

The song features Curtis Mayfield's falsetto sampled from his track, "I Loved and I Lost."
