"Lose Control" isn't just a song, it's a raw, emotional battle cry. Teddy Swims sings about how love turns him into a mess of emotions when he's not with his sweetheart. Swims wrote it about a romance he was in at the time. Reflecting on the experience, he told Official Charts: "I was sinking down from a bad relationship I was in. I wasn't taking care of myself. It got really co-dependent. I wanted to leave but didn't know how. When I did, it turned out to be the best thing for both of us. You can love somebody so much that it's not good for you anymore."
From the first note, Swims dives into the deep end of love's pool. He croons about feeling like the walls are closing in and the skin is tearing off his bones. It's a bad case of lovesickness. "Being in love can be like an addiction sometimes - always chasing the highs from the lows," Swims said of the track. "It's about losing yourself and losing control when it all starts to cave in and thinking that the only way out is through being with that person, chasing that feeling over and over again."
Swims co-wrote this song with Mikky Ekko, Infamous, and the track's two producers, Julian Bunetta and Ammo. American singer-songwriter Mikky Ekko is best known for featuring on Rihanna's 2013 worldwide hit "Stay." Marco Rodriguez "Infamous" Diaz is a DJ and record producer. He has worked with many artists but is most known for his work with Lil Wayne. Julian Bunetta is an American songwriter, record producer, and drummer. He was one of One Direction's primary songwriters and producers, overseeing four of their albums and regularly writing with the band members themselves. Joshua "Ammo" Coleman is an American record producer and songwriter. He has co-written and produced songs for Beyoncé ("Pretty Hurts"), Katy Perry ("E.T."), Maroon 5 ("Sugar") and Fifth Harmony ("Work from Home").
