This old skool cut was released as the second single from Chase & Status' third studio album Brand New Machine. The song features vocals by British newcomer Moko. It was premiered on B.Traits' BBC Radio 1 show on July 26 2013 and released on September 29, 2013 via Vertigo, Mercury and Roc Nation.
The track samples Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch's 1991 hit "Good Vibrations." Marky Mark is actor Mark Wahlberg, whose resume includes the movies Three Kings and Planet Of The Apes. Before he was an actor, Wahlberg was an original member of New Kids on the Block. He left after a few months, but his older brother, Donnie, stayed with the group.
The song recalls the music played at illegal raves in the early 1990s and bands like The Prodigy who came out of them. Saul Milton of Chase & Status told The Sun: "In 1992 I was 11 but I was there nicking my sister's tape packs. I think you'd have heard 'Count On Me' at a Fantazia rave at 4am, off your face – now you hear it in the charts. We wanted to keep the beat rugged and rusty and not make it too EDM."
