Bryan closes his Crash My Party album with this autobiographical track where he looks back at reliving his youth fixing fence posts next to his father and as he got older, reveling in "tan legs and some Dixieland delight." Bryan penned the song with Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip.
Bryan told The Boot that he always tries to include at least one song about rural life. "'Dirt Road Diaries,' in my mind, is a perfect country guy song," he said. "It speaks to the hard-working guy and I'm excited for the fans to hear that one."
Luke Bryan's first headlining tour was named after this song. The Dirt Road Diaries Tour started on January 17, 2013 in Evansville, Indiana and visited a total of twenty cities before ending on March 23rd in Charlottesville, Virginia.
